each piece in this collection was lovingly handstiched and manipulated to create a resist, followed by many hours of hand dyeing in organic indigo. the techniques used for each piece is under the wide umbrella of "shibori", a way of dye practiced in Japan for the last 1300 years.

the verb shiboru means "to wring, squeeze and press" in Japanese. there is no literal translation in the english language that can express the wide variety of shibori techniques, this can result in shibori being mistaken as "tie dye".

this mini collection is a part of a beautiful and continuous journey into the way of indigo through the lens of soulei ~
